Honda issues recall on VFR1200F

Time:05 Jan,2016
A faulty universal joint has been discovered on the VFR1200F Faulty universal joint could cause engine to cut out on select VFR1200F models Honda is recalling all VFR1200F models made between 2010 and 2013 over a faulty universal joint in the driveshaft, it has been announced. The news comes as it has emerged that the joint may have been manufactured or assembled incorrectly, causing the bearings in the joint to prematurely wear, which could result in the joint separating or breaking. The effects of the faulty universal joint could be instrumental in making the VFR1200F stall or, even worse, result in interference in the swingarm, which could cause the rear wheel to lock - obviously both instances creating safety issues for riders of the bike. So far, the recall affects US models, but it is possible that UK and other European owners will hear from Honda soon regarding the recall. It is not the first time the VFR1200F has been recalled over safety fears, with a batch of the same model sold in 2010 being recalled over metal shavings in the engine which could cause engine failure. Stay tuned to MotorbikeTimes for updates as soon as we get them.
